The buzzing Kubuqi Desert indicated that it has again drawn a great deal of attention around the world. The Fifth Kubuqi International Desert Forum, themed “Desert Ecological Civilization and Co-building Silk Roads”, was held at the Kubuqi desert in China’s Inner Mongolia on July 28 and 29, 2015. Over 500 participants from more than 40 countries and regions, including government officials, representatives from international organizations, entrepreneurs, scholars, artists and young volunteers, attended the forum.

As the world’s unique forum dedicated to global desertification control and ecological economy development, the Kubuqi International Desert Forum has been serving as an important platform for sharing experience and discussing cooperation between China and other countries.

Participants of the forum focused on desertification which is a global challenge, the post-2015 Development Agenda, and proposals for promoting ecological civilization as well as the Belt and Road Initiatives. They also discussed new solutions for desertification and climate change, the Ecological Civilization Progress and Cooperation Framework and the Kubuqi Action Plan of Global Desertification Control.
